Your Level 3 was only the beginning
I'm Nikki, owner of Orchid Massage Academy.
I've been a massage therapist for over 25 years, and I taught Level 3 Diploma massage courses for over 15 of them.
One of the things I found incredibly frustrating when I was teaching was having to stick to the curriculum, because there was SO much I wanted to teach my students about giving a brilliant massage, but there simply wasn't time.

At Level 3, consultation can feel like something you have to DO before you're allowed to start the massage. Check the contraindications. Tick the boxes. Get on with it.
But a really good consultation tells you SO much more.
We'll look at how to ask better questions and WHY you're asking them, so you understand what your client really wants and what you're trying to achieve together.
We'll also look at the client–therapist alliance, the "Getting Better Effect", the more holistic side of consultation, and how to keep things on track when somebody really likes a chat!
So by the time they get onto your couch, you're not guessing. You've already started thinking your way through their massage.
The Art of Massage — The 7 Secrets to an Exceptional Massage
This is where we really start leaving the paint-by-numbers college massage behind.
I'll take you through the seven principles that underpin the way I massage. They're less about learning new moves and much more about changing how you THINK about what's happening underneath your hands.
We'll look at being more "Zen", why sometimes you need to "stop swimming and start snorkelling", and how thinking of the body as a landscape changes the way you work.
And we'll look at meaning, intent and purpose — so you're not doing a movement simply because "this is what comes next". Every stroke has a reason.
You stop asking, "What technique should I do next?" and start asking, "What am I actually trying to achieve here?"

Strategies for an Exceptional Massage
This is where we take everything you've learned and use it with real bodies and real problems.
When someone comes in with a sore shoulder, tight neck or aching back, instead of immediately attacking the bit they're showing you, you'll learn how to step back and look at the bigger picture.
We'll look at patterns of tension, where and when you might choose to work, areas therapists commonly overlook, and how to decide what actually needs your attention.
Sometimes a better massage means doing LESS — slowing down, exploring something properly and spending your time where it's useful, rather than racing around the whole body because that's what your college routine told you to do!
And I'll show you how to bring more remedial thinking into your treatments without losing the lovely holistic side of massage.
You don't have to become a sports therapist to become much better at helping people with everyday aches, pains and tension.
The Rebooking Conversation
A brilliant massage shouldn't just end with, "You know where I am if you want another!" and you just hoping the client decides to come back.
If somebody has come to you because they want to feel different ( less tense, less stressed, more comfortable ), one massage is usually only a small step towards that.
We'll look at how to bring the treatment to a professional close: explaining what you noticed, helping your client understand what may be going on in their body and why more than one treatment can help.
Then, if you do believe that regular massage would help them, you'll learn how to recommend what happens next and invite them to rebook.
Not with a pushy sales script, but with a confident, useful conversation and a professional recommendation based on the person in front of you.
So instead of leaving rebooking to chance, your client leaves understanding why you're recommending another treatment and what you're trying to help them achieve.
